La Aljaba Foundation is a comprehensive care program for children in extreme poverty or need in the Amazon. La Aljaba is a home for the children of the region, it is a place where they have the opportunity to grow physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, so that they can have the life that Jesus wants for them. We believe that God's love can change the live of each child who is part of our program, here they learn to develop a life project that gives them hope and breaks cycles of poverty and violence.
This program was created in 2003 by God's call to Reverend Ray Wilson, founded and directed by Sister Lucy Palma. In its beginnings the foundation began with a total of 8 children, by the year 2005 the program had 62 children. After 10 years we received a donation for the purchase of the lot of our new headquarters, this was a new beginning for us. In 2016, this place was inaugurated with the help of the Ancla Foundation, Pastors, friends of the city and parents. We currently serve 92 children and adolescents, 17 of whom live in our institution.
When entering the first thing they receive is a lot of love and respect from the entire work team, knowing the context from which the children come, this being mostly violence, abuse, abandonment, mistreatment and need, here we show them the love of God in a tangible way.
Have a snack and lunch based on a balanced meal (learn fruit and vegetable consumption habits)
Throughout the day, the children are accompanied by a tutor who strengthens their cognitive processes with the intention that they can overcome each step at a time.
They learn Christian principles and values that they can apply to their daily lives, as well as how to develop a personal relationship with God.
They build a project where they get to know each other, identify their likes, describe their goals and can gradually fulfill them in the short, medium and long term. They learn the importance about effort, discipline and commitment.
In order to live in a community, they learn the importance of practicing values such as respect, honesty, tolerance, among others, and in this way make the most out of their time in the institution.
They learn and have fun while doing physical activities (games, sports, theater, corporal expression, etc.), playing soccer, jumping rope and playing basketball.
The children who are in the shelter of the Foundation feel protected and calm to carry out their activities in a cordial and loving environment.
Most of them are at risk of abuse and violence, very harsh realities in our Amazon region. The children are in the care of a shelter tutor who is aware that the children fulfills their school and Aljaba homeworks.
They receive complete food, being reflected in their weight change over the days.
It also has very comfortable single beds and excellent bathroom facilities.
In continuous prayer to God for Fundación La Aljaba, so that through his grace we can continue to bless the most needy children.
